So, when he traded in a career in hospitality for mortgages, Steve was delighted to find his way to the broker channel.

“When you work there, you’re still providing a service, and in this world, that doesn’t change. It’s our job to figure what’s best for everybody, how to have a great experience.”

In addition to originating loans, Steve recruits new loan officers for his company. He sees a lot of wide-eyed excitement in the onboarding phase with the people who made the switch from retail to wholesale lending.

“You have all these lenders to work with and all this flexibility as your own boss as a loan officer. It allows you to tailor your business and get it where it needs to be. I think that is the cool part about what we do.”

 Steve is building his business on referrals – something that came naturally to him from his time in hospitality. Instead of playing a role in a family’s dream vacation, he’s now helping families purchase their dream home.

 “You want to provide that great customer service experience so that they say to you, ‘thank you,’ and I need more business cards so I can hand them out to my friends - It’s the greatest thing to hear at the closing table.”

 You might think that mortgage lending can’t be nearly as much fun as working at a major theme park, but Steve is here to tell you that mortgages can be magical in their own way.

 “Having all these different tools at our disposal makes our job fun,” said Steve. “Being a mortgage broker is fun. It actually is.
